Dear Elections BC,
I am writing to express my extreme displeasure and opposition to the proposed electoral boundary change which will remove the Village of Cumberland, where I live, and other Valley communities from the Comox Valley district and move us into the Port Alberni district.
I shop in Courtenay, participate in recreational and cultural activities in the Comox Valley, work in the Comox Valley and pay my taxes paid in the Comox Valley. Why should I not be represented in the Comox Valley by my provincial government? It is ten minutes for us living in Cumberland to get to Courtenay and an hour and a half to get to Port Alberni. How does this make sense? How is this democratic? It isn't. You are proposing taking a little chunks of a larger tight-knit community and move them to another very distant and removed community with no connections for the communities affected.
I live in the Comox Valley and I expect to be represented in the Comox Valley.
