Dear Commission Members,
I am writing to support the proposed riding boundaries for Surrey Fleetwood. I think that it is important for electoral districts to evolve with the community. This is the only way to ensure that the elected politician is truly representative of the demographics and truly understands the issues at hand.
Certainly residents have seen the community change. Twenty years ago, it was common for a subdivision to be situated next to jungle and farms. Now, these farms have been turned into more subdivisions. As the demographics of the community have changed, so have the priorities.
While the previous boundaries of Surrey Fleetwood may have made sense, now it is difficult to see the similarities between the subdivisions and the agricultural communities of the flats.
I think that it makes more sense to keep communities together, and I applaud the Commission on their proposal for the new boundaries.
