    Harjit Kandola – Merritt, BC

I have lived in Merritt for 25years. I support the recommendations contained in the Preliminary Report for electoral boundaries for Fraser-Nicola.

I would like to lend my support for including Hope and its surrounding area back into our Fraser-Nicola constituency. Hope has a lot more in common with communities in Fraser-Nicola than it does with the larger urbanized City of Chilliwack. Hope fits in very well with the small rural communities of Merritt, Logan Lake, Lillooet and Ashcroft. All these communities are linked by common transportation linkages, common geography and history, and a similar resource-based economy and tourism. Another very important linkage between communities surrounding Hope, Yale, Spuzzum, Boston Bar, Boothroyd and Fraser-Nicola communities is the common Aboriginal heritage, especially the N’laka pamux people. Your report states that effective representation is important to shaping constituency boundaries. I believe that Hope and the Fraser Canyon will have more effective representation when attached to Fraser-Nicola than to Chilliwack.

You have a very good report. Please retain Hope in the Fraser-Nicola riding. Thank you.
