I live in the Jinglepot area and am in the Nanaimo-North Cowichan electoral area. This electoral district may not represent the needs of myself and my neighbours as well as the Nanaimo electoral district. This is where our hospital is, our community services are centred, in some cases, where our schools are located, the roads we likely use most, and other important provincially regulated issues. We are lumped in with Cedar, Chase River, Ladysmith, etc all with very different needs and issues. Our only neighbour in the NNC electoral area is mount benson and the back end of the Nanaimo lakes. Clearly not the same needs. Our area is more similar and geographically related to downtown, College Heights, Rutherford, and North Nanaimo.
The simplest way for me to look at it; if I had an issue would I rather visit my MLA in Ladysmith or Nanaimo? The answer is clear - definitely Nanaimo.
Please consider including the rural residential areas of Jinglepot with its logical Nanaimo neighbours to the North and South.
