    Dear Boundary Commission:

As a 14 year resident in Surrey Fleetwood, I am writing to express my concerns regarding the proposed changes to for the constituency boundary of Surrey Fleetwood that have been in place since 2009. It was encouraging, representative and beneficial to the Fleetwood community to have all five major shopping centers included within the constituency as well as Fleetwood Park, Fleetwood Secondary and Fleetwood Community Centre.

It is concerning the new proposed re-alignment of the Surrey Fleetwood constituency does not include Fleetwood Community Centre, Fleetwood Park and Fleetwood Secondary School. While I understand the Commission should balance population among the proposed nine constituencies of Surrey, this proposal is not beneficial and will not accurately reflect the Fleetwood resident’s representation. The Fleetwood Constituency should maintain the entire neighborhood within its boundaries including Fleetwood Community Centre, Fleetwood Park and Fleetwood Secondary School given the communities contiguous and common interests.

I urge the Commission’s proposed boundaries of Fleetwood to include Fleetwood Community Centre, Fleetwood Park and Fleetwood Secondary School as it best reflects the population and community needs, rather than segmenting the neighbourhood.

I acknowledge the need to re-align the Surrey constituencies to reflect each communities growing needs and representation, but do not understand or believe it is in Fleetwood residents best interest to split the current constituents neighbourhood structure.

Thank you for your hard work and I am sure you will give due consideration to my request.

    Manbir Gill
