Dear Boundary Commission
I have lived in Surrey Fleetwood for the last 18 years. I have learned that new proposed boundary for Fleetwood is only couple of blocks away from my residence and our residence has been moved to Surrey-Cloverdale. My immediate reaction was why the Commission has moved our residence from Fleetwood to Cloverdale? As a result, I started searching for the information as to how this decision was made.
I looked at the Electoral District Population Changes chart. I noticed that all eight surrey districts gained 116464 new residents since 2006. Nearly 50% of that population growth took place in Surrey-Cloverdale and Surrey-Panorama districts. I think that is why the Commission has created a new South Surrey district in Surrey. I think it is understandable that every district needs to share the population growth as evenly as possible. Therefore, boundary changes are unavoidable and it may happen again in the future.
After going through the search, I clearly understand and support the Election commission’s proposal for Surrey Fleetwood district.
I also like to recommend that two Surrey Fleetwood icon; Fleetwood Secondary School and Fleetwood Park should be left with the Surrey Fleetwood community. Adding both Fleetwood icons will add very little population in the Fleetwood boundary, as it is not a thickly populated area.
Again, I support the good work of Electoral Boundary Commission.
