I am writing in support of the proposed electoral boundary changes by the Electoral Boundary Commission for the City of Surrey.
I am a retired BC civil servant and have lived in North Surrey for the last 4 years. I currently volunteer as a member of the Surrey International Children’s Festival Steering Committee and with the Surrey Arts Centre library.
It is quite clear that Surrey is undergoing rapid population growth and for some time now has been in need of more substantial political representation. Two more seats would be the optimum solution but one will work for the present.
I am particularly pleased that the Commission heeded the advice of Surrey citizens and as much as possible respected existing municipal boundaries and worked hard to avoid disrupting existing neighbourhoods in arriving at these proposed changes.
I urge the Commission to proceed with the proposed addition of one more electoral district to the City of Surrey and make it a reality.
