As a resident and business owner in Merritt, I am pleased that you have decided to keep the Fraser-Nicola riding. However, I would kindly ask that you revisit your recommendations and include Princeton within our boundary area.

First, Merritt like most of Princeton and the Fraser-Nicola communities is grounded in forestry, ranching and mining. We are founded on natural resource industries. And I sell and supply many a products to them - I should know.

Second, Fraser Nicola communities have common interests and we are rural to the core. Our MLA recognizes this. Merritt is community surrounded by and connect to rural communities; Princeton, Ashcroft, Cache Creek, Spences Bridge, Lytton and Lillooet.

Third, we are located between two major copper mines. Merritt and Princeton share a mining tradition. Merritt residents work at Highland Valley in Logan Lake and Copper Mountain in Princeton to the south.

Your report suggests that Hope and the Fraser Canyon should be added to the Fraser-Nicola. I do not agree. They have been part of our riding previously, yes, but I do not see how this can be rationalized today. Hope residents looks for and accesses service up the Valley and not down.

Chilliwack is a more natural fit for Hope, not Merritt. Why included another regional district and school district?

Hope and Merritt do not match. There is no mining or ranching traditional in Hope. It's natural that it remain part of the Fraser Valley not part of the Regional Nicola district.

Thank you for listening to my recommendations.
