    Dear Electoral Boundary Commissioners:

As a long time resident of Surrey Newton, I have personally seen the unprecedented population growth in City of Surrey, particularly in Cloverdale and Panorama area. It is nationally known that the City of Surrey is the fastest growing community in the entire country as Surrey welcomes almost 1200 new residents every MONTH. Therefore, I really appreciate the Commission’s decision to add one more electoral district to Surrey.

I really understand that when a new electoral district is added to the city it causes boundary changes almost in every electoral district. I have seen that in 2009, The Boundary Commission moved a significant area & population on the north side of Newton to Surrey Green Timber and on the other hand, a big part of Panorama on the south side was moved to Newton, including my residence. Similarly, this time, the Commission has moved boundaries of almost every district again to rebalance the population. As a result, Newton lost a small area to Fleetwood. The change for Newton this time is very minor as compared to last time.

I strongly recommend the commission to maintain two things before finalizing the report. First, it is important for our fast growing city to have one more electoral district and secondly, the Commission should evenly distribute the population among all districts. It is my view that the Commission has done an excellent job on both fronts, added a new electoral district and distributed the population evenly among all districts. Thus, the Commission should finalize the Surrey proposal without further changes.

    Thanks for your consideration
