I am quite happy with the current layout of the Kamloops/North Thompson electoral area. I have heard some suggestions that it would be a good idea to separate urban areas from rural areas and keep the latter together. I don't like that idea because it fosters a city/rural division which is not healthy. It is more important to keep cities together with their natural trading region. For example, though Clearwater is about the same distance from 100 Mile House as it is from Kamloops the ratio of business travel is likely about 90:10 in favour of Kamloops. It would not make any sense at all to separate smaller communities from their main business centre when it comes to their provincial gov't representation.
