I believe that it is very important for the Electoral Boundaries Commission to refrain from amalgamating small northern districts like North Coast and Skeena. Even though the citizens in these districts are over represented in terms of population to MLA, they are very under represented in the Legislature because the majority of MLAs come from the Lower Mainland and Southern Vancouver Island. This fact gives these areas far more clout when it comes to legislation and influence. The north and rural areas lack influence in Victoria and the amalgamation of northern and rural electoral districts would erode this further
