    Dear Boundary Commission,

In 2008, the Surrey-Cloverdale constituency had a population of 50,875. In 2009 part of Cloverdale was moved into Fleetwood and despite that Cloverdale now has a population of 79,362 – a phenomenal rate of growth. Its deviation from the provincial average in 2008 was only 5%. Now it is 46%. I believe the Commission would agree that it should seek to avoid designing constituencies that become oversized before the next Commission considers boundaries again in eight years.

Therefore, I strongly recommend to the Commission that the population of Surrey-Cloverdale be reduced to no more than 53,119 – the average population of a constituency in an 87 seat Legislature. Knowing the population trends, it would be a conscious decision by the Commission to under-represent Cloverdale residents if it did not reset its population to a lower base given the amount of growth taking place.

    Best regards
