    Truls Asdal, Hope

Thank you for giving me an opportunity to address you, first at the hearing in Abbotsford and now this additional opportunity online.

Most of my input was presented in Abbotsford. However I need to correct an impression that might have been left by one presenter at Abbotsford and others online. They seem to imply that members of the Stó:lō First Nations would be united under one MLA if the Hope and Canyon areas stay within the Chilliwack-Hope riding. That is not even close to being correct.

There are eleven Stó:lō Nation bands and a further eight bands in the Stó:lō Tribal Council. They have territory in at least 6 different BC Electoral Districts. No boundary change would unite them all in one District.

However if Hope and the Canyon areas were returned to Yale-Lillooet there is a good likelihood, depending on the boundaries chosen, that all the bands of the Nlaka’pamux people would be contained within one Electoral District.

    Once again, thank you.

    Truls Asdal
