Thank you for the chance to share my opinions with you, as I did both at a public hearing in Surrey and through a written brief, the last time a review of boundaries took place.

I live in Surrey-Tynehad, and I think that our population in comparison to neighboring ridings in the lower mainland is reasonable.

However, when I compare the ridings to the south of Tynehead (Cloverdale and Panorama) and ridings in lower-growth areas such and Delta (North and South) and Burnaby (North), it is clear to me that inequities are sure to worsen over the next few years.

As at the last review, I submit that diluting the representation of northern/remote areas of the province to address urban and suburban inequities is a bad policy. Distance and the lack of media in close access disadvantages our residents living in the interior and north.

I believe that more seats should be added to reflect growing populations in specific areas. I believe that by 2017, Surrey should have another seat, and that seat should take parts of Cloverdale, Panorama and a small part of Tynehead.

Thank you again for the chance to bring my opinions to your attention.

    Yours truly,

    Ian MacPherson
