I reside in the Fraser Nicola Riding and I feel strongly that the boundaries should remain as they are currently.
The riding is very rural with the largest community being Merritt and it too has a strong rural feel. I understand that the intention is to look at ways to better align the population of the ridings but I think the Commission must consider the culture and also ability for an MLA to service the areas as well.
The consideration to move some of the Fraser Valley communities into Fraser Nicola just does not mesh with our rural culture.
The only recommendation for change the Commission may consider is moving Savona in to the Fraser Nicola Riding.
There are also natural boundaries worth considering as well as the travel distances. One should also consider that Ashcroft, Cache Creek, Clinton, Lytton, Lillooet, Gold Bridge and Spence’s Bridge share the same school district while Merritt and Princeton are in another.

I hope the Commission will consider the importance of these rural ridings and not just apply population criteria. Thank you for reviewing this input.
